My background before I became a hypnotist and Life Coach in 2014 and 2009 respectively was in fitness. For 26 years I conducted fitness classes from kindergartens to aged care homes. My observation was  that most people would not continue a gym program or fitness classes for very long without internal as well as external motivation and rewards.They would lose their motivation and sight of their goals as only very motivated people are able to be totally accountable to themselves.So as a fitness instructor it was my job to motivate my clients and if I didn’t motivate them they would not come back. So, no revenue and no customer satisfaction and achievement of their goals to become fit and healthy and lost weight.I was very interested in how we could utilise and harness our internal motivation – where did those thoughts come from? I had internal motivation and that came from my belief in myself as a competent fitness instructor along with the rewards of being fit and healthy myself as well as the satisfaction derived from seeing my clients lose weight and become fitter and gain self -esteem. Why was willpower not enough to achieve the goal for so many people? I enrolled in Cerificate1V in Life Coaching in 2009 and that taught me so many valuable strategies on the conscious level about how to respond to situations and feelings and people. But I wanted to dig deeper and really see how and what could drive harness the internal motivation for people so they could achieve what they wanted in thought, habits, behaviors and emotions.

I had heard about hypnosis and it fascinated me that someone could change a thought or a belief or a habit like smoking after experiencing a hypnosis session. I enrolled in the Certificate 1V In Clinical Hypnosis in 2014 and discovered what it was that stops most of us despite our best efforts to achieve the goal, stay on the diet, stop smoking or drinking. It was the subconscious mind, the unconscious mind the little voice in the head saying you might as well give up- you always do -the incessant unhelpful self – talk. It was eye opening and to me the missing key to success in the realisation of a goal, the ability to change a habit, a behaviour to one that helped you not hindered you. Once you got the subconscious and the conscious mind to agree – that’s when the magic happens for you. I went on to complete the Diploma in Hypnosis the following year and I started practicing at the end of 2014. I love hypnosis because it really is a large the undiscovered fruitful frontier of the human mind. I am just the facilitator and my clients are the ones who are their own magicians. I remain constantly in awe of the capacity of my clients to accept suggestions and be open to what their minds can  do . My future vision is to help as many people as I can with hypnosis so they can feel better and be in charge of their thoughts, beliefs and emotions in a beneficial way. I want to do this through client sessions and seminars where I will teach people Self Hypnosis, especially to address and manage anxiety the scourge of our times. Cathy has been married to Jim for 25 years and has 5 adult children and two grandchildren. Cathy loves to swim, do boxing stay as fit as she can and eat properly watch Netflix, spend time with family and sing now and then.

To hear back from a client who has been a smoker for 30 years that they haven’t touched a cigarette or felt like one in over 6 months is inspiring. We still don’t really understand how hypnosis works on our subconscious, but what we do know is that we can interrupt the neural pathways with hypnosis via suggestion. What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of narrowed focus where the subconscious mind comes online if you like and the conscious mind fades away. Your hypnotherapist will assist you in learning how to achieve this state by guiding you into it. Once this has been achieved, you will then receive what are called hypnotic suggestions which are received and absorbed by the subconscious mind. These suggestions will enable you to use the power of hypnosis in your life and make the changes you desire.

Can I be Hypnotised?

Of course you can! You already have been. It’s easy to go into hypnosis and it is a normal state of mind that everyone has already experienced. In fact, hypnosis is such a normal state of mind, most people usually don’t even realize that they are hypnotized. Normal, everyday hypnosis occurs when you are driving down the road and lose track of time, or, when you are focusing on a book or television program and you don’t even notice something that is going on around you. You need two things to be hypnotised 1/A willingness to be hypnotised and to be of normal intelligence. No one can make you do anythign you are morally opposed to in hypnosis and its all done with your permission. The hypnotic state is simply a state where the body and mind are deeply relaxed and the conscious mind has taken a break if you like whilst the subconscious mind pays attention and accepts the suggestions it wants to facilite a permanent change in a habit or a behaviour or a thought

Note I cannot hypnotise clients who are on anti-physcotic drugs without their doctors permission. I cannot hypnotise people who are intellectually disabled in a sever way or someone who is on drugs or very drunk.
Who will hypnotise me?

Your hypnotherapist, Cathy is a Certificate IV accredited hypnotherapist registered with the Australian Council of Hypnotherapy and holds a Diploma of Hypnotherapy. Your hypnotherapist is bound by professional ethics and the laws of the state in which it is practiced and all your information is protected and completely confidential.

How Many Sessions do I need?

Cathy will assess your needs and advise on an individual basis. You would not go once to your counsellor or psychologist for a quick fix so you would not expect to come to one hypnotherapy session. There really needs to be the initial session and a follow up session for the very best results.

As is the case with hypnosis it was all about improving people’s mindset and utilising their motivation, determination and desire to achieve a goal. And this is what we do in the hypnosis session via suggestion.
I became a Life Coach in 2009 where I learned so many wonderful ways to combat negativity and manage your emotions. I qualified as a Trainer and Assessor Certificate IV and put my new-found skills to good use teaching long term unemployed people how to improve their self-esteem and prepare them for work again. Many of these people had major mental health issues – depression, anxiety, substance abuse, were poor and in struggle town. I taught 7 groups of 16 people each and had many good results with some in jobs and most being able to function more effectively socially.

I wanted a quicker way to help people. I had looked at hypnosis previously having flirted with the idea of becoming a Hypnotherapist for many years. I thought it would be a logical segue for me and only enhance my skills as well as being an opportunity to run my own business earn some good money and not rely on someone for a job which as we know you cannot today. I loved the idea of using the imagination and the senses to effect change. I had always been very imaginative and a lot of hypnosis is weaving the client’s goals and desired changes into a story and I had always been a very good story teller. Of course, it is a lot more than just telling a story – the suggestions must be ones the client can relate to and is involved in developing.

And so, I am in my 5th year here in Geelong and have seen over 1000 clients to date. I love hypnosis because it really is a large the undiscovered fruitful frontier of the human mind. I am just the facilitator and my clients are the ones who are their own magicians. I remain constantly in awe of the capacity of the sub conscious mind to receive and accept a suggestion which cause great joy and the change they so badly want to affect.

I am still learning and probably won’t stop nor would I want too. I have just completed a stage hypnosis course with the wonderful Mark Anthony world renown hypnotists so really looking forward to launching myself on the stage as well as my volunteers where we can have a whole lot of fun and laughter.

My future vision is to continue for a long time working as a hypnotherapist stage hypnotist and Life Coach and to educate people about the enormous benefits of hypnosis.
